My Gear

All the tools you need to capture your story.

The number one question I get asked is “What camera do you shoot with?”

As such, I’ve decided to write a journal post about it! Remember all these are just tools - tools to help you translate your message, vision or story. They do not equal experiences, passion, hard work and skills you learn in/from photography. They are storytelling tools. You do not need all of them, either, in fact it’s better to familiarise yourself with the right camera and lens that suits your needs - mirrorless vs dslr, wide-angle lenses vs a 50mm, compactability etc. I travel a fair bit and constantly change lenses to fit what I’m trying to capture and have found my Sony A7riii as the perfect fit for it’s small size and high resolution.

(Multiple) Memory Cards are essential for photography. You don’t want to be caught out shooting breathtaking scenes only to find out you didn’t have enough space/forgot to put your memory card back in to your camera. Always carry a few of these around, just for back up.

2. Nucleum USB C Hub
Great docking station hub for all the different inputs (HDMI, MicroSD, USB, SD reader)

3. PolarPro QuartzLine 77mm ND1000/PL Camera Filter

This filter from PolarPro is great for capturing sunsets on the water and smoothing movement on bright days. Sturdy and scratch resistant - great addition to the gear.

4. Gobe filters
I have a collection of UV and ND filters from Gobe. These guys are creating so much positive environmental support by planting trees for every filter purchase. Ethical and clever with 1.4m trees planted so far, the filters are great quality too.

5. DJI Osmo Pocket

6. Sony A7riii

I love the size and resolution of this little camera. Shooting at 42MP per image, this is great for photographers looking towards printing their work or exhibiting on large format. The colours and clarity are super and I’ve found that slide out screen handy on so many occasions (flatlays or shooting on low angles)

This crisp lens, perfect for detail shots and portraits, is my go-to lens. I try and shoot with this as much as possible to get myself as familiar with this prime lens as much as possible.

This is my favourite lens to shoot with. I love zooming in from a distance to create layers in an image or find a different perspective on the landscapes I am exploring.

The lens I use for astrophotography and grand landscapes. With it’s versatile zoom range, this wide lens is always in my camera bag.

10. Beeway Waterproof & Shockproof memory card holder
To make sure all my SD and micro SD cards stay safe

11. Lacie Hard Drive 2TB

At the end of the day I always transfer my images to my hard drive and once I’m back from a trip it is also backed up into another drive. Memory cards aren’t formatted until I’m home as well - just in case!

12. Peak Design Travel Tripod
I have hunted for tripods and camera bags for a long long time, and can attest that Peak Design makes the best of both. So many handy and photographer-prioritised functions, this tripod features portability, stability and ergonomic design. It’s minimal and simple design, paired with how compact they’ve made it, makes it an essential in my camera bag.
